I used to make a lot of handmade signs and sell them at craft shows.  Some of the sayings were big sellers. For some reason women really liked this one a lot!

Crafting: Make your booth look SENSATIONAL

Crafting… a way to express your creative genes and possibly make a little money at the same time. Here is a picture of the portable craft booth I built and took to shows… when I use to do shows. As you can see, I made A LOT of different items which was VERY time consuming to say the least. (It is also the reason my basement currently looks like a Michaels arts and crafts store). Making many different items seemed to be the most profitable way to go in the crafting industry if you were going to do shows vs. selling on a place like etsy. Appealing to more than one group of people or one style seemed to be key in making sales. When I did my very first show years ago, I had signed up for 3 shows, every saturday for 3 saturdays. What a mistake that was!!! At my first show, I sold out of almost EVERYTHING I had made. I spent every day from 8 in the morning till 5 in the morning before the show the next weekend making more items to try and fill my booth again, only to sell out again the next week. Ugh. It was like crafting hell for those 3 weeks. After that experience I learned to leave myself time to “restock”. Handcrafted items take time to make and there are only so many hours in a day.  Anywho, if you do shows and would like to know how I put this booth together, email me and I will give you specifics. It’s cheap, travels well and is easy to put together. I’d like to see every crafter be successful. Thanks for supporting my blog.

Project: Sowing Kindness Plate

August 3, 2012

Image

For this project, I used a regular plate that I picked up at my local Goodwill store. I used my black crow/ star design and acrylic paints. If you would like to try this project yourself, contact me and I’ll forward you a copy of my template for the middle of the plate. You can write whatever message you’d like around the rim.
