It’s been a looong time, but I’m back!!! Here is my interpretation for Illustration Friday’s topic; Safari.  This is “Flesh”, one of my cavemen characters. He loves fresh meat and he’s not picky where it comes from. Do you know where your children are??? He travels in his Flesh Rover with weapons o’ plenty looking for lost, wandering souls. His favorite meal… the couch potato is normally quite meaty and plentiful. This scrumptious meal is hard to find as most couch potatoes stay deep in their dwellings during daylight hours. If you see Flesh, beware!!! Thanks for looking and I’d love any feedback!

Cathy, your dragonfly was magnificent! I was reminded of this picture (that my brother took) after I saw your recent post.  I thought this pic may be helpful in case anyone else wanted to take a stab at illustrating a cute little dragonfly. Acrobat – a person noted for his frequent and rapid changes of position or allegiances: a political acrobat.

Well, speaking for the people of PA, (although they have no idea lol) I’d have to say that Arlen Specter was a political acrobat for sure. Republican voting democrat and then switching parties when the “smart” republicans that voted for him figured out he was an Obama puppet and threw him out. Now it’s time for the working class American people to stand up and take back our country and our government from these greedy, self absorbed, self serving, pocket lining, career politicians who, have no idea what our lives are really like. How could they, most of them are millionaires!  We said goodbye to Specter in PA, make sure all of you say goodbye to your life long politicians come voting time!!! God Bless the U.S.A.

The topic for illustration friday this week is “Proverb”. Immediately this piece of art came to mind.  The english translation…  A pig in shining armour – is still a pig. (remember that ladies!!) I did this piece a couple of years ago when a friend of mine was taken in by a man who portrayed himself as a knight in shining armour, alas he was just a pig of a man disguised. After he broke my friends heart, took her for what he could (once he had won her trust), he left her broken hearted and broke. A story you seem to hear more and more now days. So ladies, keep your eyes open! If he looks like a pig, eats like a pig and squeelze like a pig… it’s a pig…. RUN!

Here is a picture from the balcony of The Corninthian Club in Marblehead, MA. This breathtaking view was what we had to endure while eating a delicious salmon dinner. I decided about a month ago to participate in the 2010 sketchbook project so I am getting all of my resources together. The topic I chose  is… “If you lived here” (at least I think that was what they called it!).  I have been snapping resource pics everywhere I go and going everywhere to get resource info. I now know what all these past artists meant by “suffering for their art”.  If you too like to sketch and could handle suffering for your art, take part in this really neat project. It could give you legitimate reasons to take trips, visit friends etc. They have some very inspirational and/or funny topics to work with and your moleskin will travel around the country when you’re done!  The deadline to join  is at the end of October so check it out soon at arthousecoop.com. and let me know if you decide to participate. My trip to Marblehead could not have turned out to be more than stressful. I came to get away and relax for a few days with my “sister from another mother” and here I am having pressure put on me constantly!!! First thing yesterday afternoon I had to pick between a mango or a pomengranite marguerita, geesh. I said, I am on vacation, I refuse to make these decisions… so I had both. THEN… if that were not enough, dinner time comes, again I am given the dilema of whether we should have lobster again. As you see, I had to suffer thru another double lobster dinner. The pressure is almost unbearable. Tonight, I will once again have to make drink and food choices… is there no end to the madness! Thank heavens I am heading home tomorrow and I won’t have to put up with this pressure much longer. I feel like I’m 23 again yikes. (Gosh I love my big sis!)

The things you seem to hold dear in your heart as you get older are, the things you remember from your youth. Swimming, swinging, climbing trees, your first kiss, laying on the grass and watching the stars. Life is full of so many precious moments that are gone in the blink of any eye or as quickly as a shooting star.  Take the time one warm summer night, get out a blanket, spread it out on the grass in your back yard and gaze at the night sky like you did when you were a kid. If you can… bring a friend or a lover, there is nothing more relaxing and/or romantic than a night under the stars.
